For the second year in a row, Cathédrale has been honored for its outstanding wine program in Wine Spectator’s 2024 Restaurant Awards, which celebrate the world’s best restaurants for wine.
COASTAL-INSPIRED CUISINE
Signature dishes include starters such as Hamachi Crudo with Celery Hearts, Green Apple, Minus 8 Verjus, and Black Olive Oil, and our Potato Chip Omelette with Kaluga Caviar and Crème Fraîche. Main courses include Black Truffle Fettucine with French Butter, Cracked Pepper and Parmesan, Faroe Island Salmon with Spring Vegetables, New Onion Vinaigrette, and Lemon Confit, and a 22oz Prime Aged Ribeye with Rotisserie Leeks and Sauce Vert.
THE SPACE
Designed by Rockwell Group, Cathédrale’s soaring main dining room feels like stumbling upon an abandoned architectural treasure: Its 26-foot, triple-height ceiling is covered in a massive wire mesh sculpture, Fillmore, by Edoardo Tresoldi that looks like the apparition of a grand domed ceiling. The delicate yet monumental sculpture creates a dramatic dialogue with the restaurant’s architecture, which pays homage to the interior of the Fillmore East, once known as the “Church of Rock ‘n’ Roll.”

Cathédrale also includes an open kitchen with copper accents and a bar area with vintage-style neon signs that reference storied East Village night spots like the Palladium and The Saint. The bar itself has an angular design that creates flirtatious sightlines. An outdoor dining terrace with a retractable roof is another hidden surprise. With seating for 58 and foliage spilling out of rebar planters and what looks like rusted card file cabinets, it feels like the improvised backyard gardens tucked behind many East Village restaurants.
